Due to decades of moisture, termites and neglect, the entire floor system and majority of interior and exterior walls were completely deteriorated and resting on the ground in many locations.
Florence was literally falling down when we got her.
Safely securing the structure was the first obstacle to overcome. Before any major demo occurred, a temporary structure had to be constructed under the existing roof framing to prevent total collapse. The top half of the house and existing walls were then slowly lifted and new walls were framed into place.
Once the structure was secured, a completely new roof and flooring foundation system were installed. Followed by a new electrical, plumbing and central air system.
With the addition of new siding, insulation and all the finishing's, the total rebuild time was around 14 months.
It was a very difficult and sometimes dangerous road.
Florence had many lessons to teach.
